Japanese rock band Spyair has achieved a major streaming milestone with their song Orange, the theme for Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle. Billboard Japan confirmed on September 10 that the track had surpassed 200 million streams, just 19 months after its release in February 2024.
Orange was first introduced as part of the film’s soundtrack and later included on the band’s second EP of the same name, released on February 14 2024 in Japan.
The track had already reached 100 million streams by July 2024, with continued growth driven by the ongoing popularity of the Haikyu!! anime franchise and the film’s international availability.
Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, released in Japanese cinemas on February 16 2024, went on to earn 11.64 billion yen (approximately 78.95 million USD) during its domestic run.
This performance placed it as the 37th highest-grossing film in Japan of all time, reflecting the strong global following of the volleyball series.
The film is now streaming on Crunchyroll in both subtitled and dubbed versions for audiences across North America, Central and South America, Europe (excluding France), Africa (excluding Southern Africa), Oceania, the Middle East and CIS territories. Crunchyroll also hosts every previous season of the Haikyu!! anime.
The story follows Shoyo Hinata, who joins Karasuno High’s volleyball team inspired by his idol, the “Little Giant.” To compete at the highest level, Hinata must partner with former rival Tobio Kageyama. Their rivalry evolves into a powerful collaboration as Karasuno faces Nekoma High in the long-anticipated “Dumpster Battle,” a match between two underdog teams that has been years in the making.
Spyair’s Orange continues to serve as a memorable anthem for fans, marking both the film’s cultural impact and the band’s streaming success.
