A major beautification and renovation project for Faisalabad's historic Clock Tower and its adjoining eight bazaars will begin by the end of this month.
The initiative aims to preserve the city's heritage while upgrading public facilities to modern standards.
A high-level meeting chaired by Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar finalised the plans.
Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Nadeem Nasir, Additional Commissioner Coordination Aamir Raza, and senior officials from Faisalabad Electric Supply Company, Sui Gas, and WASA also attended.
The Deputy Commissioner briefed participants on the scope of the project.
Commissioner Anwar said a comprehensive plan has been prepared to renovate the Clock Tower, improve surrounding bazaars, and enhance parks, chowks, and green belts across the city.
"The renovation will be carried out in phases. All electricity, gas, and water supply lines around the Clock Tower will be shifted underground to provide citizens with improved facilities," he noted.
DC Nasir highlighted the project's cultural and economic significance, stating, "The Clock Tower and its bazaars are the identity of Faisalabad. Their beautification will not only restore the city's historical image but also attract tourism."
According to official sources, Rs380 million has been approved for the renovation of Ghanta Ghar, Ghumti, and Kutchery Bazaar.
An additional Rs320 million has been allocated for an underground electricity scheme in the area.
