
However, the committee, headed by Petroleum Minister Dr Asim Hussain, recommended that acting managing directors of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) should be appointed as new heads of these companies.
The committee recommended names of Acting MD SNGPL Arif Hameed, Acting MD SSGC Azeem Iqbal Sidiqui and Acting MD PPL Asim Murtaza after conducting interviews on Monday.
Sources told The Express Tribune that Insar Nasar had been recommended as new managing director of Government Holdings Private Limited and final decision would be taken by the prime minister.
However, for appointing the OGDC managing director the government will publish advertisements once again. Sources said the committee conducted interviews to appoint a new head on Monday, but nobody was selected.
OGDC’s Acting Managing Director Bisharat Mirza and other senior executives Riaz Khan, Chaudhry Zafar and Zahid Imran Farani appeared in the interviews.
The largest oil and gas explorer recently announced earnings that rose seven per cent to Rs63.52 billion in the financial year 2011 compared with Rs59.18 billion posted in the same period last year.
Earlier, the petroleum ministry had sent a summary to the prime minister, recommending Zahid Imran Farani and Insar Nasar as new managing directors of OGDC and Government Holdings respectively.
However, the Establishment Division objected to the composition of the interview committee which comprised members of the board of directors. It called for including the petroleum minister in the committee for a second round of interviews.
