
Air Force (PAF) Day was observed across the country on Sunday with national zeal to commemorate the valour of the defenders of Pakistan's skies during the 1965 war and to pay homage to the martyrs who had laid down their lives for the motherland.
On the occasion, the PAF observed Martyrs' Day at all its bases nationwide. The day begain with special prayers and Quran Khawani for the martyrs of the 1965 and 1971 wars, as well as for all those who have rendered the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty since the creation of Pakistan.
At the central Martyrs' Day ceremony at Air Headquarters, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu underscored the proud legacy of sacrifice, courage, and professionalism that defines the Pakistan Air Force.
Addressing the gathering, he said the victory of the PAF in Marka-e-Haq Bunyan-um-Marsoos had once again demonstrated its will and capability to guard the aerial frontiers of the country, according to a statement from the PAF spokesperson.
"Martyrs' Day symbolises the extraordinary bravery, impeccable professionalism and unparalleled spirit of sacrifice demonstrated by the Armed Forces of Pakistan," he said, paying heartfelt tribute to those who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland.
"Well-cognizant of the fast-changing security dynamics, Pakistan Air Force stands committed to its mission with singularity of purpose," the PAF DGPR stated. "We owe our heroes an eternal debt of gratitude for their supreme sacrifices, which serve as an enduring example for future generations."
He affirmed that PAF would continue advancing its capabilities in space, electronic warfare, cyber technologies, niche domains and indigenous defence production to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the air chief reiterated Pakistan's unwavering support for their legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination.
Later, he laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs' Monument and offered Fateha for the departed souls.
Separately, President Asif Zardari, in his message on the occasion, said the PAF had always played a crucial role in defending the country's airspace and maintaining national sovereignty.
He paid rich tribute to the valour and sacrifices of PAF personnel during the 1965 war, recalling that despite overwhelming odds, Pakistani air warriors displayed extraordinary bravery and determination.
The president noted that whether in the 1965 war or the more recent Marka-e-Haq Bunyan-um-Marsoos, the air force had always risen to the challenge and given the enemy a decisive response.
He said the remarkable skill and professionalism of the PAF had won global recognition and remained one of the strongest guarantees of Pakistan's security.
