The rumored iPhone 17 Air — expected to be Apple’s thinnest phone ever — has generated plenty of buzz, but its price remains a mystery amid conflicting reports.

Slated to replace the Plus model in this year’s lineup, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to feature a 6.6-inch display and an ultra-slim 5.5mm body, making it the slimmest and lightest iPhone to date, weighing around 145g. With its sleek design, many expect a higher price tag — but sources are divided.

According to TrendForce, the iPhone 17 Air could launch at $1,099, a $200 jump from the iPhone 16 Plus, which started at $899. On the other hand, JPMorgan, via a report covered by 9to5Mac, suggests a more modest pricing strategy, predicting a price point between $899 and $949.

Though the device’s design is a clear standout, reports suggest Apple may be making trade-offs to achieve its ultra-thin profile — including a smaller battery and a single rear camera. These compromises could influence Apple's final pricing decision, potentially keeping it closer to last year’s model to avoid backlash over perceived downgrades.

As it stands, there’s no clear consensus on what the iPhone 17 Air will cost — but the wait is almost over. Apple is set to unveil the full iPhone 17 lineup at its event on Tuesday, September 9 at 10 AM PT. The event will be streamed live on YouTube, with preorders expected to go live the following week, if Apple sticks to its usual schedule.
