Tom Holland has revealed that fan input has been a major influence on the direction of his upcoming film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In a recent interview with LADbible, the actor shared that he has been closely monitoring online discussions and fan reactions to help shape both his performance and elements of the film’s development.
“I have been actively sifting through the internet and trying to best understand what it is that the fans want from a Spider-Man movie,” Holland said. “That’s been my driving force in these pitch meetings. I think the producers, at times, were absolutely sick of me, but I think it’s really important, because we make these movies for [the fans].”
Holland was cautious when asked which comic storylines the movie would draw from, but his focus remains firmly on ensuring Brand New Day lives up to its predecessor. “Right now what’s in front of us is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and focusing on making that movie worthy of the last film,” he added.
One of the standout elements of this new installment is Holland’s direct involvement in designing his latest Spider-Man suit. He described it as incorporating intricate design elements that draw inspiration from the suits worn by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in their respective portrayals of the web-slinger.
“What’s been really fun about this most recent movie is designing the suit and being a part of that process and understanding what we wanted to try and achieve,” Holland explained.
The cast of Brand New Day includes returning stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, alongside new additions such as Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, and Michael Mando reprising his role as Scorpion. Newcomers Tramell Tillman, Sadie Sink, and Liza Colón-Zayas are also joining the ensemble.
Adding to the excitement, GamesRadar recently reported that Jackie Chan’s renowned stunt team will be working on the film’s action sequences, following their previous collaboration with director Destin Daniel Cretton on Shang-Chi.
