LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, heavily criticised for using even this flood-triggered disaster as a self-promotion campaign, was left red-faced by her own government after a mosque signage bearing her picture went viral on social media.

The incident drew the chief minister's own wrath, as she sought an explanation from the concerned officer.

Earlier in the day, a mosque signage in Phalia, Mandi Bahauddin, installed by the area's deputy commissioner and carrying Maryam's picture, took the internet by storm.

A senior officer said this could, at best, be treated as an oversight on the part of DC Mandi Bahauddin.
