The United Nations in Pakistan has formally launched the Pakistan United Nations Network on Migration (UNNM), marking a major step toward coordinated migration governance and tackling human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
The launch event, held in Islamabad and hosted by UN Resident Coordi-nator Mohamed Yahya, highlighted the country's commitment to a unified, collaborative framework for managing migration.
The initiative aligns with international frameworks, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM).
The event also featured the inauguration of Pakistan's first Migration Mul-ti-Partner Trust Fund programme (MMPTF) - "Strengthening Response to Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM) in Pakistan".
The programme is jointly implemented by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan, the private sector, media and civil society.
