Lady Gaga turned a Netflix celebration into an unforgettable spectacle when she surprised fans at the Wednesday season 2 Graveyard Gala in New York. The pop superstar not only walked into a Tim Burton–inspired wonderland but also used the gothic event to announce her brand new single, ‘The Dead Dance’, set for release on 3 September.
The event, attended by 300 fans, influencers, and press, was designed to immerse guests in Wednesday Addams’ world. Attendees stepped into foggy graveyard sets, nibbled on themed snacks, and even received eerie haikus typed on old-fashioned machines. Just as the atmosphere reached peak spook, Gaga emerged to announce that her single will appear in part two of Wednesday season 2. Lucky guests climbed into bespoke coffins for an exclusive preview of the track, which Gaga later revealed was inspired by heartbreak but carried a celebratory, dance-floor-ready beat.
The surprise tied into another major revelation: Gaga will star in Wednesday as Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Nevermore Academy teacher with mysterious ties to Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday. Ortega, now also a producer on the show, described Gaga’s presence as seamless, saying she felt like Gaga was “meant to walk the halls of Nevermore.” Director Tim Burton echoed the sentiment, praising Gaga as a true artist who elevated the project.
For Gaga, the connection to Wednesday has been years in the making. Her 2011 song ‘Bloody Mary’ became the unofficial soundtrack of Wednesday’s viral dance from season one, reigniting global interest in her back catalogue. This time, Gaga is stepping directly into the series’ mythology.
As the night closed with a Wednesday-themed playlist from DJ Whitney Marston Pierce, fans left buzzing with both excitement and curiosity. Gaga herself summed it up best, “It’s about finding fun in dark times. I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
