Plantation drive kicks off at PNCA

The Federal Minister for Culture and Heritage, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, formally inaugurated the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) today.
The campaign seeks to plant millions of trees nationwide with the objective of enhancing Pakistan's green cover, combating environmental pollution, mitigating the adverse effects of climate change and contributing towards long-term sustainable development.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Federal Minister emphasised the urgent need to adopt collective measures to protect the environment, highlighting that climate change poses one of the greatest challenges of our time. He urged citizens from all walks of life, especially the youth, to participate actively in tree plantation drives, describing them as a vital investment in the country's ecological future.
Students from schools and colleges also took part in the ceremony, symbolising the central role of young people in safeguarding Pakistan's environment.
The minister also went onto inaugurate a tree plantation campaign at Lok Virsa by planting a sapling. He was accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary for National Heritage and Culture Farah Naz Akbar, Member of the National Assembly Nuzhat Sadiq and Secretary IPC Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani.
The workers of Lok Virsa also participated in the campaign and joined hands in planting trees at the Lok Virsa premises.
