Selena Gomez has shared a heartfelt reaction to the engagement of her best friend Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, announced on August 26.
Following Kelce’s garden proposal, Swift posted a photo on Instagram showing her diamond ring with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Gomez reposted the moment on her own Instagram Story with the message, “When bestie gets engaged,” alongside pictures of the couple celebrating.

She also highlighted a full-circle moment from 2009, when Swift had written to her on Twitter, “Real love still happens sometimes. It’s not just something we make up when we’re nine. I have to believe that. You do too.” A fan reshared the old message with side-by-side photos of the singers’ proposals captioned, “16 years later.” Gomez reposted the tribute, drawing attention to their enduring friendship.
Swift and Gomez have both celebrated engagements in the past year. In December, when Gomez revealed her engagement to producer Benny Blanco, Swift commented on Instagram, “Yes, I will be the flower girl.”
