Travis Kelce's father Ed reveals all the details about NFL star's engagement to Taylor Swift

Ed Kelce shares details about the couple's actual engagement date and how they broke the news to friends and family.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially engaged, but the NFL star’s father Ed Kelce has revealed that the proposal happened weeks earlier than fans thought.

In an interview with ABC News 5 Cleveland, Ed Kelce shared that Travis proposed to Taylor on August 10, 2025, nearly a fortnight before the couple made their announcement public on August 26.

“Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago. He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, too, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event. And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event...when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you,” Ed Kelce said.

The proposal took place at Lee’s Summit, where Travis surprised Taylor with a beautifully decorated setting after inviting her for a glass of red wine.

Ed recalled that Travis immediately called his parents, Donna Kelce, as well as Taylor’s parents, Scott and Andrea Swift, to share the news. “They started FaceTiming me and their mother, as well as her parents, to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great,” he said.

Ed also remembered receiving the call during an Eagles practice in front of 60,000 people. “As soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him, I knew what they were going to say.”

The couple confirmed their engagement with a heartfelt Instagram post captioned, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” delighting millions of fans worldwide.
