The moon for Rabiul Awwal was not sighted across the country, and Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH) will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Abdul Khabir Azad announced.
“No evidence of the moon sighting was received from any part of the country. Therefore, the first day of Rabi ul Awwal will fall on Tuesday, August 26, while 12th Rabi ul Awwal (Eid Milad un Nabi PBUH) will be observed with religious fervour on Saturday, September 6,” said Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir, during a news conference on Sunday.
He further explained that the moon’s age was 32 hours and it was expected to be visible between 7:03 PM and 7:44 PM. However, due to widespread rain and cloudy weather, the chances of visibility were already low.
The meeting, chaired by Abdul Khabir Azad, was held at the Meteorological Department office in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi. Representatives from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, SUPARCO, the Meteorological Department, and the Ministry of Science and Technology also attended, along with members of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Zonal meetings were simultaneously held in Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, and other major cities. The committee did not receive any testimony of moon sighting from anywhere in the country.
