LAHORE:

A quarrel over Rs30 at a fruit cart in Raiwind left a man dead and his brother critically injured.

According to police, brothers Wajid and Rashid, residents of Kot Radha Kishan, were returning home after delivering milk when they stopped near Pabliyana Bridge on Lahore Road to buy fruit.

A heated argument broke out between the brothers and a fruit seller, Owais, over the price.

As per the FIR lodged at Raiwind city police station by the victims' father Majid Iqbal, Owais, his brother Taimoor and several unidentified accomplices attacked them with rods, sticks and other blunt weapons.

Witnesses said Owais allegedly struck Wajid on the head with an iron rod, causing him to collapse. The assailants continued to beat him after he fell unconscious. Rashid was also struck repeatedly, suffering multiple injuries, including a fractured arm.

The complainant added that during the assault, the attackers called in additional men from nearby, escalating the violence despite pleas from locals to stop. The group fled after the attack while hurling threats.

The victims' father and relatives rushed both of them to Lahore General Hospital, where Wajid, a milk vendor, succumbed to his injuries. Rashid remains in critical condition under medical care.

The complainant also stated that Rs50,000 and a mobile phone belonging to the victims was missing.

The police registered the case under sections 302 (murder), 147 (rioting) and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The case has been handed over to the investigation wing.
