CM reaffirms commitment to polio eradication

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah described polio as a grave threat to children's health and emphasised that large-scale vaccination campaigns remain underway to eliminate the virus on Friday. He has reiterated his government's determination to eradicate polio during a meeting with a six-member delegation of the Rotary Foundation.

The chief minister announced that three oral polio vaccine (OPV) campaigns will be conducted in September, October, and December 2025, covering children up to 15 years of age.

The meeting agreed to strengthen collaboration in polio eradication efforts. CM Shah expressed concern over the rise in polio cases, noting that Sindh reported 23 cases in 2024 and six cases so far in 2025, the latest in July from Badin district. However, he also highlighted encouraging signs from environmental surveillance, with one-third of Karachi and Hyderabad's sewage samples testing negative for the virus in June and July.
