RAWALPINDI:

Significant progress has been made in the investigation of a case involving the murder of a woman in Dhamiyal area, where the accused allegedly killed his wife through torture and later attempted to bury her in Kot Addu.

According to police sources, the arrested suspect, Amir Abbas, confessed during interrogation that he had physically assaulted his wife, Samina.

He admitted that during the violence, her head struck the bed, causing a severe injury. Despite the injury, he continued to assault her. The suspect further revealed that when Samina's condition deteriorated, he, along with his son, took her to a hospital. Investigations also confirmed that at the time of the assault, the victim's son, Muhammad Zaman, was not present at home. Police sources added that the accused were already facing trial in another case, in which Samina, her husband, and her son were nominated as accused.

The arrested suspect and his son will be produced again before the area magistrate today, along with a progress report of the investigation. Given the sensitivity of the case, senior police officials have formed a six-member special investigation team to pursue the matter further.
