The long-rumoured sequel to Hell Let Loose is finally official. Hell Let Loose: Vietnam was revealed during Gamescom 2025, shifting the franchise from WWII battlefields to the dense jungles of the Vietnam War.

Set between 1965 and 1973, the sequel promises to expand on the series’ signature 50v50 military simulation with new terrain, vehicles, and tactics. Players will engage in large-scale battles across six maps at launch, featuring key operations like Starlite and Piranha. Helicopters will ferry supplies between camps, boats will patrol rivers, and North Vietnamese forces will utilize tunnel networks to ambush enemy troops.

Unlike its WWII predecessor, the sequel is being developed by a separate team under publisher Team17, following their acquisition of the IP from original developer Black Matter. The game will run on Unreal Engine 5, aiming to deliver high-end visuals while maintaining the hardcore, team-focused gameplay that made the original a hit on Steam in 2021.

Despite the new direction, Team17 has confirmed that Hell Let Loose (2021) will continue receiving updates. “One game will never come at the expense of the other,” they said in an FAQ, explaining that a second development team has been formed to ensure ongoing support for both titles.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Meanwhile, the original game remains active with new content planned through 2025, and is currently available on Xbox and PC Game Pass.

For fans who’ve been waiting for a more grounded, tactical take on Vietnam War combat — this is it.
