Obsession trailer reveals dark love story ahead of May theatrical release
The Obsession trailer teases a dark love story as Curry Barker’s horror film heads to theaters on May 15

The official trailer for Obsession has been released, offering a first look at writer-director Curry Barker’s upcoming horror film ahead of its theatrical debut on May 15.
The film follows a hopeless romantic who turns to supernatural forces in an attempt to win the heart of his crush. After breaking a mysterious artifact known as the One Wish Willow, he appears to get exactly what he asked for. However, the wish soon reveals a terrifying consequence, turning his dream romance into a dangerous and sinister nightmare.
The cast includes Michael Johnston, known for his work on Teen Wolf, alongside Inde Navarrette from Superman & Lois. Additional cast members include Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and comedian-actor Andy Richter.
Produced by Teashop Productions, Under the Shell, and Capstone Pictures, the film also counts Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions among its executive producers.
Obsession first premiered during the 2025 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival and is continuing its festival run with upcoming screenings at South by Southwest, Boston Underground Film Festival, and Beyond Fest Chicago.
Early reactions suggest the film offers a twisted take on the classic “be careful what you wish for” concept. While the premise may echo familiar Monkey’s Paw-style storytelling, critics note that Barker’s direction leans into shocking twists, intense horror imagery, and blood-soaked suspense.
With its blend of supernatural horror and psychological tension, Obsession is set to arrive in theaters nationwide this spring.
