Three brothers 'poisoned to death'

Murder case registered; family embroiled in property disputes

Three young brothers died in Taunsa Sahrif after their health suddenly deteriorated under mysterious circumstances.

A murder case was registered on the complaint of the father of the deceased, Khwaja Ghayasullah, who shared suspicion of poisoning of his sons aged one to four years.

According to local sources, the family of then complainant was embroiled in property disputes.

The source said one-year-old Muhammad Umar died at Taunsa Sharif Tehsil Headquarters Hospital while undergoing treatment, while two-year-old Ghulam Muhammad and four-year-old Moinuddin were referred to the Children's Hospital in Multan, where they also passed away.

The victims were initially shifted to the THQ hospital.

Dera Ghazi Khan District Police Officer Tariq Wilayat visited the home of the bereaved family and obtained information about the incident.

Khawaja Ghayasullah expressed suspicion that his son had been poisoned, upon which the DPO ordered immediate registration of ten case and directed the Crime Scene Unit to collect evidence.

The official also went to the THQ hospital and obtained information about the children from doctors.

He said on the occasion that the incident would be investigated from every aspect and anyone found involved would be arrested.

Taunsa city police registered the case of poisoning under Sections 302 and 324 against unidentified suspects on the basis of the statement of the father of the deceased, and launched an investigation.

Samples from the bodies would be sent to a forensic lab. The bodies were handed over to the family after post-mortem.

Funeral prayers for then three children were offered at Darbar Alia Sulaymaniyah, following which they were laid to rest. A large number of local people, including police and administration officials, attended the funeral.

Two shot dead

A 13-year-old girl and a man were shot dead by a rival group in Basti Jumna Chandia, near Dera Ghazi Khan.

The girl, Rabia, and Shafqat were killed in firing allegedly over an old enmity.

According to local residents, both the victims were hit while fertilising their land. When they came near a road, the suspects, Fayyaz Sajjad and Riaz, opened fire, resulting in the death of both of them.

The residents said their was an enmity between the attackers and the victims who were neighbours.

The DPO and Gadai SHO Karam Elahi assessed the situation and obtained information from the area elders present at the spot. An investigation team was ordered to thoroughly look into all aspects of the incident.

The bodies were shifted to the Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital for post-mortem.
