ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has listed for hearing a reference seeking disqualification of National Assembly Leader of Opposition Omar Ayub in view of his conviction in a case related to May 9, 2023 rioting incidents.

According to a cause list issued by the polls oversight authority on Thursday, an ECP bench will hear the reference on August 12. PML-N's Babar Nawaz Khan filed the petition.

A special anti-terrorism court in Faisalabad on July 31 sentenced top PTI leaders, including Omar Ayub, Senate Leader of Opposition Shibli Faraz, SIC chief Hamid Raza and Zartaj Gul, to 10-year in prison.
