Emnc workshop: Improving mother-child healthcare

PESHAWAR: A 6-day training workshop on Essential Maternal and Newborn Care (EMNC) for health service providers in FR Peshawar, Kohat, Lakki Marwat and Bannu was conducted by the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (Fata) Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Programme. MNCH arranged the workshop in collaboration with Unicef. The participants were trained to handle pregnancy and labour complications, newborn resuscitation, infections and other common problems. On the last day of the workshop, MNCH Coordinator Dr Parvez Kamal Khan said that “MNCH has chalked out a plan to build the capacity of Rural Health Centres and train health service providers in Fata in order to achieve Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5.”
