Sweet Hamster Days, an upcoming live-action dating sim, places players in the paws of Hamta, a man who has been reincarnated as a pet hamster after dying in a traffic accident. Developed by Kodansha, the game features an unusual narrative set in a household with three sisters who adopt Hamta.
Unlike typical visual novels, Sweet Hamster Days is entirely filmed in live-action. Gameplay unfolds from Hamta’s perspective, showing a low-angle view from within his cage or around the house.
The developers describe the experience as being “spoiled rotten by its three gorgeous owners: cuddles, treats, naps, and all.”
The story revolves around building relationships with each sister by uncovering their personal secrets and worries.
According to the developers, if players become the “perfect pet,” they might receive a “special treat,” although the nature of this reward has not been revealed.
In addition to its live-action style, the game will include bonus scenes in 4K, further enhancing the immersion of the hamster’s life.
These scenes are expected to include affectionate moments between Hamta and the sisters, expanding on the bond that players develop throughout the narrative.
The game is set for release in Q4 2025 on Steam. It promises to deliver a unique and surreal experience, inviting players to explore a concept that combines slice-of-life storytelling with an unconventional pet perspective.
