The district administration has banned all unauthorised and modified loader rickshaws operating without route permits, licenses, or registration in ten key commercial and congested areas of Rawalpindi.
Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema has ordered a grand operation against such vehicles starting August 15.
Excise and Taxation Officer Sohail Shehzad has issued a red deadline of August 14 for all owners of loader rickshaws and vehicles to register them, install number plates, and obtain valid licenses and route permits.
A special counter has been established at the Excise Department for this purpose.
Post-deadline, a crackdown will be launched in Raja Bazaar, Pirwadhai, Murree Road, Saddar markets, Taxila, Gujar Khan, Ganjmandi, Rawal Road, Iqbal Road, Liaquat Road, and Asghar Mall Road.
Vehicles found in violation will be heavily fined and remain off-road until proper documentation is provided. Self-assembled loader rickshaws made from motorcycles will be completely banned.
Any such vehicle found will be seized, and the loading materials confiscated permanently. ETO said separate teams will be deployed across the designated areas to carry out enforcement throughout the day.
