Police investigation has revealed that a man injured in a shooting incident in the Sabzi Mandi on Ravi Road had shot himself in a bid to implicate his rivals in a case.
According to officials, the incident initially appeared to be a targeted attack as the complainant, Jahangir, suffered a gunshot wound and named his opponents as assailants.
However, during the inquiry, police found inconsistencies in Jahangir's account.
Further investigation uncovered that Jahangir had conspired with his associates to shoot himself behind sacks of onions in the market. "Jahangir, along with his brother Sher Khan, runs a network of watchmen in the market. To expand their control and eliminate competition, they devised a plan to frame their rivals by staging the shooting," said the official in-charge of the investigation.
