ISLAMABAD:

Workers at the PTI Central Secretariat have been caught in the throes of a financial crisis, as their salaries were slashed by half nearly nine months ago.

According to sources, despite repeated promises by the leadership, the employees have yet to receive their arrears.

The salary cuts were first implemented in October last year and have not been reversed since.

Although many employees endured hardships such as arrest, detention and torture, they were still dismissed from their jobs.

Sources further revealed that some of these employees had FIRs registered against them and remained loyal to the party during difficult times, but their sacrifices were overlooked.

The sources added that PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja and Sheikh Waqas Akram have been repeatedly informed about the employees' grievances, but no practical steps have been taken so far.

PTI Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram had assured employees that their dues would be paid soon.

However, the promises remain unfulfilled.

Moreover, the PTI media department's former head, Sibghatullah Wirk, also remained in hiding for several months due to political pressure and financial difficulties, and eventually submitted his resignation to the leadership.

Sources said the PTI founder had issued clear instructions that all MNAs and MPAs must deposit funds to cover the expenses of the party secretariat, but the majority failed to comply.
