DI KHAN:

In a tragic incident in Bannu, unidentified armed terrorists abducted and brutally murdered Dr Syed Wali Khan, the former General Secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) for the Bannu Subdivision Wazir.

According to details, the terrorists kidnapped Dr Wali Khan from the Daragai area of Bannu and later took him to his vacant house, where he was mercilessly shot dead. Police reports indicate that Dr Wali Khan had relocated to Chashmai some time ago due to security concerns.

He had returned to his native area for personal matters when he was targeted. The assailants abducted him and killed him in his abandoned residence before fleeing the scene. Police reached the location and have launched an investigation into the incident.

A wave of fear and panic has spread throughout the region following the murder.

On the other hand, Regional Police Officer Bannu, Sajjad Khan, has stated that the police are on high alert in the Miryan area of Bannu following reports of terrorist presence. He assured that the Quick Response Force (QRF), armored personnel carriers (APCs), and other police units are fully prepared to handle any situation.

RPO Sajjad Khan made these remarks during a briefing concerning the reported infiltration of approximately 250 terrorists into the Bannu region. He said a joint operation by police and security forces is planned to counter the threat.

He further revealed that terrorists have previously launched attacks on the Basyakhel and Bakakhel police stations, which were successfully repelled by the police. He also disclosed that militants are now resorting to drone (quadcopter) attacks against police forces.

Despite the evolving threat, RPO Khan affirmed that the police have all necessary resources and personnel. He added that a coordinated operation with security forces will be carried out at the appropriate time.
