Three coal miners lost their lives after inhaling toxic gas in a coal mine in Orakzai on Saturday.
According to mine inspector Engineer Arshad Ali, one of the mines had been closed for a year. However, when the mine in-charge entered it along with two labourers, they failed to return.
"According to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set for mines, no one is allowed to go inside before discharging the carbon monoxide gas. But they went inside, ignoring the SOPs; thus, they lost their lives," he said.
The deceased were identified as Sher Zaman, Rahimullah and Aslam.
