ACs empowered to enforce price regulations

To combat overpricing and ensure the availability of essential commodities such as food, fruits, and vegetables, the assistant commissioners (ACs) of 156 tehsils have assumed charge as heads of the newly-formed Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA).

The government has intensified its crackdown on inflation, adulterated and rotten food items, and profiteering.

After the appointment of ACs as heads, dedicated PERA police stations at the tehsil level are set to be established within July and will become operational by August.

At the district level, Additional Deputy Commissioners (General) will serve as the heads of these new enforcement stations.

The Governor of Punjab has officially issued a notification for the formation of this authority, and the designated officials have already assumed charge.

Rawalpindi Division Commissioner, Aamir Khattak, has also instructed that buildings for PERA stations in all 27 tehsils of the Rawalpindi Division be acquired within the current month.
