Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani criticised MQM-P lawmakers for what he called a lack of understanding on administrative matters, urging them to refrain from spreading hatred and divisive narratives.
Speaking to media on Wednesday after an event, Saeed Ghani said that the 38 officers and employees from Sehwan Development Authority (SDA) transferred to Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) have not been posted in Karachi, contrary to MQM's claims.
After the formation of SBCA, building control sections in development authorities like SDA were dissolved, Ghani explained. Employees performing building control duties remained in SDA without proper placement. After repeated requests from SDA, it was decided in the recent governing body meeting that these employees will be officially transferred to SBCA but will serve only within SDA's operational jurisdiction. "Not a single employee has been posted in Karachi; there is no question of anyone's rights being violated," he said.
He advised MQM lawmakers to verify facts before making public statements to avoid unnecessary controversy. "Stop promoting rural versus urban or insider versus outsider narratives. All those serving in govt institutions are citizens of Pakistan and Sindh," he said.
Addressing concerns raised over new vehicle number plates, Ghani said they are designed to curb street crimes, prevent vehicle theft, and eliminate fake number plates, not a matter of cultural preference.
