Police have apprehended a suspect in an attempted murder case after over two and a half years on the run.
Police said a team traced the whereabouts of the fugitive. The suspect, Shabbir Hussain, was arrested during a targeted raid.
Hussain had been absconding since 2023 after allegedly shooting and injuring a citizen named Zubair during a personal dispute.
A case was registered against him under Sections 324, 337-F and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. He was declared a fugitive after evading arrest for more than two years.
City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar said that special teams have been formed to track down suspects involved in serious crimes.
"We are committed to bringing all offenders to justice, and operations will continue without exception," he stated.
In a separate development, Faisalabad police arrested five suspects believed to be associated with two gangs involved in robbery, street crimes, and motorcycle theft.
The operations were carried out jointly by the Crimes Control Division (CCD) and Kotwali Police. Authorities recovered six stolen motorcycles, cash, mobile phones, and illegal weapons during the raids.
Kotwali Police SHO Inspector Atiqur Rehman Shah, along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Sheikh Kashif, led a series of raids targeting a motorcycle theft gang.
