Netflix’s Emily in Paris is set to bring its fashionable escapades to a new city - Venice. The fifth season of the hit romantic comedy will partially film in the iconic Italian lagoon city between August 5–15, according to Luca Zaia, governor of the Veneto region.

Zaia praised the development as ‘extraordinary news,’ noting that the shoot underscores the Veneto region’s growing appeal for international film and television productions. Director Andrew Fleming is reportedly scouting Venetian locations with the support of the Veneto Film Commission and local production company 360 Degrees Film.

Season 5 began filming in Rome earlier this year and returned to Paris in June. It picks up shortly after the events of Season 4, with Emily (played by Lily Collins) settling into her new life in Rome, balancing work at Agence Grateau’s Italian office and a budding romance with Marcello, heir to a luxury cashmere brand.

The addition of Venice adds a fresh layer of glamour and historic charm to the already globetrotting series, which previously turned Parisian cafés and Roman piazzas into tourist destinations. However, this latest location comes with a bit of controversy: Venice has recently drawn criticism for its growing reputation as a playground for the ultra-wealthy, following events like Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s high-profile wedding.

Emily in Paris, created by Darren Star and produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and Jax Media, continues to influence both pop culture and travel trends. As fans await the new season, Venice’s canals and palazzos promise to offer a picturesque, and possibly dramatic, backdrop for Emily’s next chapter.
