Leaked internal documents from Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds have revealed significant delays and reduced content in the game’s development as publisher Krafton faces legal action from former developers.

Slides from an internal presentation, confirmed as genuine by Krafton, show that Subnautica 2’s development has not met initial plans.

The documents indicate only one major biome, an introductory region, 12 creatures, two leviathans, and fewer vehicles than the first game are currently complete. Additional features such as a second biome, more creatures, mining tools, and farming are not yet ready, despite aims to include them in the early access release.

According to the leaked slides, the original development plan for Subnautica 2 promised four biomes, expanded creature and vehicle content, and character customisation options to position the game as a major franchise title.

However, the current state of development has not aligned with these plans, and the documents recommend increasing content and polish before launch to appeal to a wider audience.

Krafton stated the document forms part of an internal milestone review for the project and chose to confirm its authenticity to ensure accurate communication with players.

The company faces legal action from former Unknown Worlds leaders, who were reported to have departed amid disputes over the game’s direction and financial targets.

Subnautica 2 remains delayed, with plans for an early access release now targeted for 2026.
