KARACHI: A child died in Matiari, whereas hundreds of people were diagnosed with gastroenteritis and other waterborne diseases in the flood-stricken areas of Sindh.
The floodwater has not receded from several villages, including the districts of Anghar, Matyari, Pingrio, Malkani Sharif, Jhaddo and Naukot.
The stagnant water has become a breeding ground for swarms of insects.
The water is flowing to nearby villages after a breach occurred in the Left Bank Outfall Drain near Muthi.
On the other hand, situation is returning to normalcy in Badin, Tando Bago, Matli, Khoski and Nawabshah.
Meanwhile, flood victims protested against the shortage of food and medicines in different districts of interior Sindh.
Hyderabad
Educational institutions and government offices are still submerged in several areas of Hyderabad after a week of torrential rains.
About six to eight feet of the Latifabad subway is submerged, while massive traffic jams have been reported in several areas.
The administration has still not commenced a fumigation drive.
