Power outage: Gas supply to Guddu thermal plant suspended

Several areas face severe power shortage, sources say supply suspended as PEPCO failed to pay bills of last 6 months.

Power supply was suspended in several districts of Balochistan and Sindh due to gas supply issues, reported Express 24/7 on Monday.

Several areas including Kandhkot, Jacocabad, Quetta, Jaffarabad are facing severe power cuts due to the suspension of gas supply to six units of Guddu thermal power house.

Sources said that the gas supply was suspended as Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) failed to pay the bills of the last six months.

Chief Engineer of Guddu thermal power plant said that it is the responsibility of PEPCO to pay the bills on time.

The units will remain closed till the restoration of the gas supply.
