ABC has greenlit a Scrubs reboot for the 2025–2026 season, confirming the return of original cast members Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke.

Initially reported in early development in December 2024, the revival brings viewers back to Sacred Heart Hospital with both familiar faces and new additions.

Series creator Bill Lawrence expressed his excitement, saying, “Scrubs means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together.”

The official series logline teases JD and Turk “scrubbing in together for the first time in a long time,” navigating a medical world that has evolved, alongside a new generation of interns.

Fan favourites are expected to return beyond the confirmed trio, reviving the show's blend of sharp humour, emotional moments and character-driven storytelling.

Lawrence will executive produce through his Doozer banner alongside Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Executive producers Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra will serve as showrunners. Braff, Faison and Chalke will also executive produce.

The series is produced by 20th Television, while Warner Bros. Television supports Lawrence's involvement under his overall deal.

The original Scrubs ran from 2001 to 2010, first on NBC and later on ABC. It became known for its single-camera style, imaginative cutaways and heartfelt arcs.
