Another elopement ended in tragedy as the runaway woman's relatives gunned down her husband and his uncle, then hauled her away.
Shamman Ali Jatoi and his maternal uncles, Muhammad Ishaq Hussain Jatoi and Muhammad Habib Hussain Jatoi, were walking down a lane in the Muhammad Khan Colony when they saw four familiar faces riding towards them on two bikes. They ran, trying to get to the house where they were hiding with Saima, who Shamman had lured with him to the big city. However, Saima's relatives caught up with them, pulled out their pistols and started shooting. Shamman and Ishaq died on the spot while Habeeb suffered injuries. The assailants then barged into the small quarter, dragged Saima out, and hauled her away.
Once the crime scene was safe, Manghopir police sent the bodies and injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
He told the media that Shamman had eloped with Saima from Bolan, Balochistan and had married her against the wishes of her family. Habib had identified the assailants as Ghulam Sarwar, Sadiq, Abdul Salam, and Ghulam Haider.
