Kevin Durant heads to Houston Rockets in NBA’s biggest ever trade

Kevin Durant has officially joined the Houston Rockets in a record-breaking seven-team NBA trade

Kevin Durant has joined the Houston Rockets from the Phoenix Suns in a record-breaking seven-team trade, the most complex player swap in NBA history.

The deal, involving a total of 13 players and multiple draft picks, was finalised on July 6 as the NBA’s new league year began, confirming speculation that had swirled since reports of the move first emerged last month.

In addition to the Rockets and Suns, the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers all played a part in the transaction, surpassing the previous record of a six-team trade set last summer.

Durant, 36, brings a decorated CV to Houston.

The veteran forward was named NBA Most Valuable Player in 2014, has earned 15 All-Star selections, and won two championships during his time with the Warriors. He is also a four-time Olympic gold medallist with the United States.

“My time in Phoenix has come to an end,” Durant wrote on social media. “All these stops along the journey have really impacted me in a positive way… Houston, can’t wait!”
