A 70-year-old scrap dealer, Moeenuddin, from Landhi was reportedly kidnapped, with his abductors demanding a ransom of Rs20 million, two Rado watches, and two iPhones, within two days.
On June 21, Moeenuddin asked his younger son, Zeeshan, to drop him off at Landhi Railway Station so he could head to Sadiqabad to purchase scrap. Zeeshan dropped him close to the railway tracks, at around 6:10am.
The next morning, Moeenuddin's son Ghayasuddin attempted to contact his father on both of his numbers, but found them switched off. Concerned, he continued trying to reach their father, to no avail.
Then, on June 23 at 1:45pm, both brothers received a message from their father which stated that he had been kidnapped and was being held at an unknown location.
The abductors threatened to kill Moeenuddin if their demands were not met. Shortly after, the brothers received a video showing their father stripped naked and being physically abused. A case was registered against unknown men, at Quaidabad police station.
