Naqvi vows tight security, enhanced surveillance for Muharram

Interior minister says security placed on high alert to thwart any nefarious designs of cowardly enemies

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said a comprehensive security plan has been put in place for Muharram to check miscreants and ensure improved surveillance.

He said this while visiting the central Imambargah Asna Ashari in G-6, Islamabad, on Monday where he reviewed the security and other arrangements. He maintained that security has been placed on high alert to thwart any nefarious designs of cowardly enemies.

Naqvi said approval has also been granted for the deployment of army in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and all provinces upon their request. He added that the army will remain available to support the civil administration in these regions.

Additionally, he met with the administrators of the central Imambargah and inquired about the arrangements, to which the organizers expressed satisfaction. DIG Islamabad Police also briefed him.
