Gypsy-Rose Blanchard marks end of parole with statement on healing and accountability

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard ends her parole, reflects on accountability as she says "Justice was served and so was my time."

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard has broken her silence following the completion of her parole on June 24, 2025.

In a personal statement posted to Instagram, Blanchard reflected on her past, offered a final apology for her role in the 2015 death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, and expressed hope for the future.

"I've taken accountability and now, I take back my life," she wrote. "This next chapter is one of healing. Of growth. Of reclaiming my life."

Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was released from prison in December 2023 after serving eight years of a 10-year sentence. Her parole completion marks a legal and emotional turning point in a case that drew national attention.

She also addressed her former partner, Nicholas Godejohn, who is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder. Describing him as “deeply disturbed,” Blanchard stated, “He knew the difference between right and wrong. That was a choice, and he is not exempt from the consequences of that choice.”

She closed her statement by acknowledging Dee Dee’s family and expressing ongoing remorse. “From the depths of my heart, I will continue to express my sincerest apologies to them, now and always,” she wrote.
