Vaccination of girls against cervical cancer planned

The Sindh government is set to launch a Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign on September 13 to protect girls aged 9-14 from cervical cancer. In preparation for the campaign, a crucial meeting was held at Shahbaz Hall in Hyderabad with Additional Deputy Commissioner II, Saba Kalhoro in the chair.

During the meeting, Saba Kalhoro stressed on the importance of collaboration between the health and education departments to ensure the campaign's success.

The health department will form teams to implement the vaccination campaign, while the education department will provide the total number of girls enrolled in primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools across the district. The department will also conduct awareness programmes before the vaccination campaign to educate parents and girls about the importance of the vaccine.

The health department has urged parents to cooperate with the vaccination teams and ensure their daughters receive the vaccine. The Sindh government, health department, education department, and other relevant institutions will work together to make this campaign a success.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including District Health Officer Dr Pir Ghulam Hussain, Polio Task Force In-charge Dr Jamshed Khanzada, District Emergency Operation Centre In-charge Dr Waqar Dahar, and World Health Organization Immunization Officer Dr Najma Tariq.
