Former NFL star Antonio Brown is facing a serious charge after a warrant was issued for his arrest on June 11, 2025, in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The charge, attempted murder with a firearm, stems from an incident outside a boxing event hosted by popular streamer Adin Ross on May 16, 2025.
Brown was temporarily detained following the altercation, during which gunshots were reportedly fired. Videos from the scene showed Brown involved in a physical confrontation with several people outside the event. Gunshots could be heard at the end of the video, heightening the severity of the situation.
In a statement posted on X on May 17, Brown claimed that he was “jumped” by individuals attempting to steal his jewellery and cause him harm. He stated that he was briefly detained by police but later released after sharing his side of the story. While Brown did not mention gunshots in his statement, he indicated he was working with his attorneys to press charges against the people who attacked him.
However, further investigation revealed video evidence showing Brown in a physical altercation, reportedly taking a security officer’s weapon and running toward the victim. Patrons in the area identified Brown as the shooter, although no weapon was found on him during a police search.
This new legal issue follows a string of controversies for Brown, including a 2023 arrest in Broward County for failure to pay child support. The 12-season NFL veteran played for teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
