Disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of sexual assault in his New York retrial, nearly a year after his 2020 conviction was overturned.

A Manhattan jury convicted the 73-year-old on one of three sex crime charges after five days of tense deliberations marred by infighting and threats among jurors.

Weinstein was found guilty of assaulting former production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006. He was acquitted of a charge involving model Kaja Sokola, and jurors have yet to reach a verdict on a third charge, which alleges he raped actress Jessica Mann in 2013. Deliberations on that count are set to continue Thursday.

The retrial followed the 2024 ruling by New York’s highest court, which overturned Weinstein’s 2020 conviction due to unfair trial procedures, including the admission of testimonies unrelated to the charges.

Despite the overturned conviction, Weinstein has remained behind bars due to a separate 16-year sentence in California. With the latest conviction, he now faces up to 25 additional years in prison.

The trial was marked by dramatic developments, including reports of heated arguments among jurors. One juror reportedly received a threat from another, prompting the judge to warn the panel to focus solely on the presented evidence.

Weinstein, who appeared in court in a wheelchair due to health issues, continues to deny all accusations, claiming the encounters were consensual. Over 100 women have accused him of sexual misconduct, making him a central figure in the #MeToo movement that exposed abuse in Hollywood.
