DIJKOT:

Two separate incidents claimed lives in Faisalabad on Tuesday as a man was shot dead by his brother over a land dispute, while another man died after allegedly being poisoned by his wife over a domestic conflict.

In the first case, registered at Satyana Police Station, Abu Bakr, a resident of Chak No. 432 GB, reported that his father Muhammad Hanif was killed by his own brother, Muhammad Shoaib, following a dispute over the division of jointly-owned property.

According to the FIR, Hanif was returning home after offering prayers when Shoaib, armed with a 12-bore shotgun, allegedly ambushed him and opened fire.

Hanif sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Police shifted the body for post-mortem and handed it over to the family before registering a case.

In a separate incident in Chak 227 GB, under the jurisdiction of City Tandlianwala Police Station, Hidayat Ali lodged a complaint stating that his 28-year-old son, Sabir Ali, was allegedly poisoned by his wife, Maryam Bibi, following a prolonged domestic dispute.

According to the complaint, Sabir and Maryam had been married for two years and had a 13-month-old son.

A quarrel had led Maryam to move to the house of Muhammad Ashraf and his wife, Nahid Bibi, in Rasool Pura.

On June 9, Sabir reportedly went to reconcile with her when Maryam allegedly gave him poisoned food. He was later found in critical condition near a cemetery and was taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment.

Police arranged a post-mortem and registered a case against Maryam Bibi and others named in the complaint. A search for the accused is ongoing.
