As Eidul Azha draws near, the capital's residents eagerly prepare for festive barbecues, with Aabpara and G-9 Markaz markets bustling as demand surges for essentials like coal burners, skewers and knives. With Eid just around the corner, shopkeepers are witnessing a surge in sales, highlighting the timeless charm of outdoor cooking during the festivities.
Zaidi, a vendor at Aabpara Market, shared with media that the demand for BBQ burners and accessories surges to nearly twice the usual levels in the days preceding Eid. This is a profitable season for us, and the best time to sell these items," he said, while arranging stock for eager customers.
Many buyers view barbecue gatherings as an essential part of Eid festivities. Ali, a shopper at Aabpara Market, said, "Eidul Azha feels incomplete without barbecue and seekh kebabs. We host a barbecue night for our family and friends every year." However, Ali and other consumers voiced concerns over the steep rise in barbecue essentials prices, urging the government to intervene and offer relief during this festive occasion.
Raina, another visitor at G-9 Markaz, echoed similar sentiments. "We already have some items at home, but I came to buy a new BBQ burner. Every year, my family and I celebrate the first night of Eid on our rooftop with a traditional barbecue," she said. Raina noted that while the tradition strengthens family bonds and adds joy to the occasion, the increasing costs are burdensome.
