ANP demands removal of PTA chairman
Awami National Party (ANP)
Central spokesperson for the Awami National Party (ANP), Engineer Ihsanullah Khan, has stated that efforts to defame politics and politicians in Pakistan are nothing new. Whenever a political party or leader takes a principled stance, they are met with organized conspiracies and character assassination. Despite this, the ANP has consistently stood firm in defense of its ideology and the public interestand will continue to do so.
In a strongly worded statement, Engineer Ihsanullah Khan criticized the Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), calling him unfit for the role and claiming he holds the position solely because he is a retired general. He said the chairman's incompetence became especially evident during a recent meeting of the Standing Committee, where he failed to provide satisfactory answers to key questions raised by ANP President Aimal Wali Khan concerning public interest matters.
"The chairman not only displayed an unserious and crude attitude during the session," Khan said, "but also made his lack of capability glaringly obvious." He added that Aimal Wali Khan's firm and timely response to the chairman's behavior showed that the ANP will not tolerate unprofessional conduct under any circumstances.
Khan further asserted that ANP's leaders have historically refused to bow to colonial powers and have never been intimidated by Pakistan's military elite. "In such a context, how can a retired general dare to behave inappropriately with elected representatives?" he questioned.
The spokesperson demanded that the federal government ensure appointments to key positions in federal institutions are made strictly on the basis of merit and professional competence, not military rank or background. "Military experience should not be considered a substitute for professional expertise," he emphasized.
