Taylor Swift’s re-recorded track Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version) has premiered in the ninth episode of The Handmaid’s Tale season 6.

The revamped version of her 2017 hit soundtracks a pivotal uprising scene led by Elisabeth Moss’s character, June Osborne, as handmaids confront their oppressors. The song opens the episode, capturing the intensity of June’s escape and the coordinated rebellion, with a darker, refined vocal take and updated production elements inspired by the original Jack Antonoff mix.

Elisabeth Moss, who also serves as executive producer, told Billboard it was an intentional and long-awaited choice. “I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot,” said Moss.

Editor Wendy Hallam Martin echoed the sentiment, saying the song was “meant to be.” She credited Moss and the team for seeking a strong female voice and confirmed the track landed “perfectly thematically, rhythmically and magically.”

This episode marks the first full-length appearance of a Reputation (Taylor’s Version) track, including the first two verses and choruses. It follows previous brief previews in The Dynasty: New England Patriots and The Summer I Turned Pretty. With only two albums remaining in her re-recording project, fans speculate a major announcement at the American Music Awards on Memorial Day.
