KARACHI:

Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari (BBSUL) has suspended Abdul Rashid Mullah, Bursar/Account Officer, from his senior position following serious allegations of harassment. He has also been barred from entering the university premises until further notice.

The suspension decision was made during a Syndicate meeting held at Lyari University on Monday. According to university officials, Mullah was found guilty of harassing a female student via messages sent through a mobile phone application. The investigation was initiated after the student formally lodged a complaint.

A fact-finding committee, overseen by an officer from the Department of Universities and Boards, was constituted to probe the matter. Following consultation with the Ombudsman, the case was presented before the university's Syndicate, which resolved to suspend Abdul Rashid Mullah.

During the same meeting, another disciplinary matter was addressed. Faculty member Ghulam Mustafa was demoted to the position of lecturer after it was found that he had submitted an equivalency certificate for PhD coursework in place of an actual PhD degree.
