The epicentre was located 34 kilometres west of Ashkāsham, Afghanistan, at a depth of 233.7 kilometres beneath the Hindu Kush mountains.

Due to the depth of the quake, its surface impact was limited.

No casualties or property damage were reported in Pakistan, though residents in areas such as Chitral, Upper Dir, and nearby valleys experienced mild shaking.

The region falls within an active seismic zone where deep earthquakes are common, often resulting in wide but gentle tremors.

Pakistan's northwestern terrain, lying close to the tectonic collision zone, regularly experiences such seismic events.
