Justin Baldoni’s attorney has proposed a dramatic setting for Blake Lively’s upcoming deposition—New York’s Madison Square Garden.
In a statement to PEOPLE, lawyer Bryan Freedman suggested the testimony be screened publicly with ticket sales donated to organisations supporting domestic abuse survivors.
“Since Ms. Lively is open to testifying, let’s make it count,” said Freedman. “Hold the deposition at MSG, sell tickets or stream it, and donate every dollar to organisations helping victims of domestic abuse.”
The proposal comes amid an ongoing legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni related to the 2024 production of It Ends With Us. Lively filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni denied the claims and filed a $400 million countersuit, accusing Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and others of defamation and civil extortion.
Freedman also confirmed that Baldoni will testify during the March 2026 trial, which will not be broadcast. Lively’s attorney, Mike Gottlieb, confirmed that she will also give evidence in court and criticised what he called the defence’s “media circus” approach.
“She has been testifying since the moment she auditioned for this part,” Freedman said. “If she is suddenly now willing to sit for a deposition, I am available. How does tomorrow morning work for her?”
Gottlieb replied that both parties would be subject to depositions during discovery. “We will have the opportunity to take the depositions of the defendants,” he stated, while also suggesting the trial would reveal more about alleged misconduct on set.
As the legal case moves forward, both sides continue to trade public and legal blows.
